Ms. Cherie's Retirement

I had no idea what we would do at HHH this, so I went in thinking Ms. Cherie would let us leave early. Then, we saw the file room... it was a disaster. The files were sticking out everywhere and some looked like there were about to fall out any minute! AJ and I spent a good amount of time organizing them and making sure they were fitting correctly into the file shelves and re-filed a few. The lady that works in the file room told us that after we leave on Thursday, the files gradually get worse and worse and are also in need of maintenance! I am glad we can do a little job for them to make their work life a little bit easier and more organized.

Today was the first day we had patient interaction! Just like any other medical clinic, there is a list of questions and protocols that you must ask the patient:

1. If they have been to HHH before.
2. If yes, if they have an appointment (at what time and with who).
3. If no, to fill out the patient information sheet and if they have an appointment/with who/what is the purpose of the visit
4. Call the medical clinic and make sure the patient is in the system & let them know there is a patient waiting in the waiting room.
5. Call appropriate case worker to inform patient is here.
6. Walk patient to necessary location (never just point to where they need to be).

It was definitely more eventful, then most. Working the front desk is not bad, you realize what types of patients come through the clinic, some who are homeless, some who aren't and others that have the need to justify why they are there and not at another clinic. A clinic is a clinic, they are open for those who need help and what I like about HHH is that they do not judge who comes in, they just have one goal: to help others. I am not so sure what we are going to do this next week, Ms. Cherie's last day is November 24th... AJ, Elizabeth and I all got her a retirement gift!! I hope she likes it and has more things for us to do!!
