Day Eight

Instead of going on Thursday to volunteer, we went a day earlier so it wouldn't interfere with the famous APOPTOSIS LAB (which was a success)!! Once we arrived at HHH, we greeted Ms. Cherie who told us she will be retiring by the end of November! She is a Baylor hire that works at HHH and they are cutting her position, but HHH would like to keep it, thus, we are on a mission for Ms. Cherie to find her a replacement! Our project today was to go through 50 emailed applications and make a checklist of certain requirements each had. Ms. Cherie asked us to look for the following in the resume: Volunteer Coordination experience (which is the position they are looking for), volunteer experience, spelling errors, and if their resume spoke directly to the job position. After going through the resume, I realized there are many people are interested in this line of work. The homeless and non profit that is. It makes me feel a lot better knowing that there are others that want to help those who are less fortunate!!
